Dominique Emond was born in Willowdale, Ontario in 1971 and was raised in Montreal, Quebec. He began his training in karate in the mid 80s but before Dominique was able to complete his training his family moved to another part of Montreal.

His interest in martial arts was re-ignited in 1992 after seeing the movie Rapid Fire, starring the late Brandon Lee. Dominique's fascination with the effectiveness of Kung Fu led him to the door of Lorne Bernard; Sifu of Shaolin White Crane Kung Fu in Montreal, Quebec.

Dominique trained there for almost 3 years while he finished his Bachelor of Computer Science degree at Concordia University. A job offer in Toronto, Ontario forced Dominique to cut short his training once again.

In the spring of 1994, walking around the city of Toronto, searching for a Kung Fu school, Dominique stumbled upon a Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu run by Sifu Sean O'Neil. After taking an introductory class, Dominique knew that Traditional Wing Chun would be the style of Kung Fu he would stay with for life.

Dominique trained diligently under Sifu Sean O'Neil, and achieved assistant-Sifu status in 2000. In January 2001 however, Sifu O'Neil suffered a family tragedy and announced he was moving away and would no longer be teaching.

Sad for Sifu O'Neil, but unwilling to lose the opportunity to continue learning Traditional Wing Chun, Dominique sought out a person that Sifu O'Neil had spoken about with tremendous respect, Master Joe Sayah.

Master Joe Sayah took Dominique on as one of his students on August 29th, 2001.

On July 1, 2002 , Sifu Dominique Emond obtained his Level 10 Gold sash.
